If you want to improve your upper body and core strength, learn to do a push up! There’s a variation that will suit nearly everyone.

Push ups strengthen your chest, arms and shoulders, and when done correctly they’re an amazing core exercise too.

They are also functional, as they can help you become stronger in pushing movements (like pushing a heavy door open).

Best of all, they require no equipment and can be done nearly anywhere!

Focus on keeping your core tightly engaged around your spine, so your back stays neutral, in each of these variations.

Start at the appropriate level for your experience, and progress slowly as you see improvements.
