Nutrition Tip of the Week: Ideal Serving Sizes

If you usually follow a healthy diet but tend to overeat, learning to control your portion sizes can help you avoid overindulging.

Using your hand to measure portions is an easy, consistent method. Your hands are always with you, whether you’re at a restaurant or a party. Hands allow for differences in our size. Bigger people need more food, and tend to have bigger hands, therefore getting larger portions. Smaller people need less food, and tend to have smaller hands, therefore getting smaller portions.

Measuring your portions can help you track your food choices, nutrients, and energy simply and easily.
